Daily Blog :-
Sunny start then slightly overcast for a couple of hours, then the sun broke through for the rest of the ride, it was very humid but better moving on the bike than stopped.
The wind although from the NE was not strong enough to be a problem.
The first 25 miles were fairly flat and once again we had a brisk start, the first stop was at Bents Garden Centre 16.2 mph.
Several serious climbs the longest being up from Rivington Resevoir - 5 miles, Geoff as usual, was King of the Mountain but we all made it in good time.
Nearly at the bottom of the descent we stopped at a pub to discuss lunch arrangements for lunch, Chris parked his bike on the trap door of a cellar, a couple of minutes later the door was opened from the inside to take a delivery, the bike went hurtling down the hill, fortunately no damage was done.
We moved on up another climb up to Tockholes for lunch.
Mike and I decided to press on after lunch, I got to within 2 miles of our destination when the rear-mech jammed up, when I freed it it only jammed again, it was very early so I decided to walk.
Geoff, Chris and Dave, who had stopped longer for lunch, came by and Geoff straightened my rear-mech, it now seems to be working OK (Fingers crossed).
Mike who was in front at the time did not see me stop and rode on.
