Daily Blog :-
I new it was going to be a bad day before I even got on the bike, It was cold and wet ouitside so I put my leg warmers on,I thought to myself these have shrunk went down stairs to my bike to get my arm warmers from the saddle bag only to find my leg warmers in the saddle bag, I had put my arm warmers on my legs!
Undaunted I went ahead to the main road to take a photo of individuals as they started only to realise that most of them had gone the other way because it was a one way street
I set off behind all the others thinking I know this road and did not look too carefully at the instruction and missed the turning on the Mallaig roundabout after a couple of miles I turned around but I went straight back through the Maillaig roundabout in the opposite direction that I had come from, Rob from Bike Adventures was in the van saw me going wrong way and directed me back to the Mallaig roundabout with instructions to turn left when I arrived. I duly turned left and was back on track, I knew there was a right turn soon after this but I took one turning too early the loop took me back towards the Mallaig roundabout. I immediately turned round yet again and back tracked, I had 11 miles on my GPS when I finally arrived at the 2.6 mile junction.
After that I followed the instructions very carefully and did not make any more mistakes (I will always remember doing ever decreasing circles around the Mallaig roundabout).
It was very wet and cold for the first 2 hours but then it was showery for a while turning dry for rest of the ride. The Temperature started at 7C and climbed to 9C after lunch. One steep 1.6 mile climb at 15%. The wind not although not directly on the tail helped rather than hindered.
