Cloudy in the morning, very little wind, temperature remained below 12 C until after mid-day.
Most of the stage was very scenic but visibilty was poor for the first third.
Andy set off a few minutes early, John, Derek and myself rode the first 20 miles together and decided not to stop for coffee.
I obviously mis-heard the plan and took the 6 mile climb after Moffat, John stopped at the turning to an alternative route I carried on to the top of the climb.
I waited 20 minutes at the top and nobody was in sight, so I came back down to where I last saw John only to realise that where he stopped was the junction to the alternative route, so decided to go back up the hill again.
I completed the course by myself and arrived at the Hotel in good time but I have cycled well over 90 miles.
In spite of overtaking Andy earlier he was first in.
A cycle way into Motherwell was tarmac it went up and over the motorway then up and over the River Clyde.
All riders are safely in.
